Reagan Institute Summit On Education (RISE)

The challenges facing American education institutions continue to mount. Daily headlines highlight myriad issues: falling National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) scores, declining value of higher education, a national teacher shortage, a crisis of student chronic absenteeism, a youth mental health emergency, the list goes on.

In the wake of these and other issues, we are again confronted with the urgency raised four decades ago by A Nation at Risk: our education system must evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

All eyes are on states--not Washington--to chart new paths toward economic opportunity for today’s students. Guided by President Reagan’s enduring belief in the power of education to “ignite the flickering spark of knowledge,” the eighth annual RISE convening calls on leaders to reimagine an education system worthy of our students and essential to our nation’s future.
