The Reagan Center for Civility and Democracy supports Ronald Reagan’s vision of fostering “informed patriotism,” where Americans can disagree about issues without villainizing each other, find common ground, and trust our democratic institutions. The center will focus on how bipartisanship and respect make America stronger and freer for everyone.

Promoting Civil Discourse

A cycle of hyper-partisanship and dissent has divided Americans, elevating disagreement rather than what binds us together. We promote informed civil discourse and bipartisanship where it exists, honoring those who embody respect for their fellow Americans. The Center seeks out those who have taken meaningful steps to advancing civility, finding ways to replicate their actions and bring civility back to our everyday interactions.

Finding Common Ground

We create opportunities for bipartisan conversations, highlighting how working together leads to creative solutions that strengthen our communities and institutions. We advocate respect in places where the cycle of incivility is at its worst.

Strengthening Democracy

Increasingly, Americans fail to recognize how the values of democracy have shaped American society and what those values mean for the rest of the world. We want to promote a different vision – where we teach our children and young adults what it means to be an American and why the values that forged a new path forward nearly 250 years ago continue to make our country a “shining city on a hill.”
