Met with the new Freshman class (Repub.) in the House. There are 33 of them & a darn good group.
Attorney Gen. Bill Smith came in to tell me the Justice dept. is making a deal on a bldg. to bring some of their people under one roof. They are presently scattered around town in several run down locations.
Finally the Cabinet meeting re the budget. They took what we’ve done pretty well. Now the idea is for them to come back with any ideas they might have.
We had an N.S.P.G. meeting to discuss our approach to the Soviets in the Jan. meeting. I had a signing ceremony for the new food aid for Africa.
Then a meeting with about 60 citizens who are meeting to see if the pvt. sector can do more for Africa. I picked out 4 suits I can do without & through our Pvt. Sector office gave them to one of the pvt. help to the poor groups.
