Pastor Ezra Jin on the Fight for Religious Freedom in China

Please join the Ronald Reagan Institute’s Center for Freedom & Democracy on Wednesday, October 21, for an event with Pastor Ezra Jin. Pastor Jin is the founder and senior pastor of Zion Church, one of China’s largest independent house churches.

In October 2025, Pastor Exra Jin was detained alongside other Zion Church pastors and members as part of a nationwide crackdown on the church. After nearly nine months in detention, Pastor Jin was released in July 2026 and reunited with his family in the United States.

Introductory remarks from Reagan Institute Director Roger Zakheim will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by remarks from Pastor Jin and a moderated conversation led by Policy Director Rachel Hoff. Pastor Jin will be joined on stage by his daughter, Grace Jin Drexel.

Before her father's release, Grace sat down with Rachel to discuss her father's story and the persecution faced by Christians in China. Click here to watch the episode of Reaganism.
