Alice Goldberg Advances to the National Championship After Winning the New York Regional Competition of the Ronald Reagan Debate Series

(Simi Valley, CA) The Ronald Reagan Foundation and Institute proudly announces Alice Goldberg, a junior at Riverdale Country School, as the winner of the New York Regional Competition of the Ronald Reagan Debate Series, which was hosted on Saturday, April 19 at the Collegiate School. This fiercely contested event showcased the incredible talent and determination of local high school students who demonstrated exceptional skill in persuasive public speaking and respectful discourse.

Goldberg’s performance during the competition earned her a coveted spot at the National Championship, to be held this July at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California. She has also been awarded an all-expenses paid trip to the National Championship for themselves and a chaperone, as well as the opportunity to compete for a share of $50,000 in scholarship money.

"I had an amazing experience at the Ronald Reagan Debate Series,” stated Goldberg. “President Reagan's personable, relatable way of public speaking is an inspiration to me, and the format helped me practice expressing my ideas on important topics to a wide audience. I'm honored to compete at the National Championship at the Ronald Reagan Library in the Simi Valley!"

The Ronald Reagan Debate Series is designed to foster respectful dialogue, critical thinking, and effective communication among high school students. Goldberg exemplified these values during the regional competition, skillfully engaging with complex topics and presenting arguments with clarity and poise.

Dr. Richard Schroeder, Chief Education Programming Officer, remarked, “Alice’s remarkable
performance embodies the principles championed by President Reagan, showcasing a commitment to civil discourse and cultivating unity through mutual understanding. We are proud to have her represent California at the National Championship this summer and wish her continued success.”
