With views all the way to the Pacific Ocean and an hour from Los Angeles International Airport, RRPFI’s Simi Valley campus sits on 400 acres atop a hill, serves as the final resting place of America’s 40th President and former First Lady Nancy Reagan, displays a chunk of the Berlin Wall, and houses (among other remarkable displayed hardware) the plane President Reagan flew on as Air Force One to 26 countries. Also onsite are the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, the Air Force One Pavilion, and the Reagan Leadership Center.
Position Available/Location
As a member of the Development team, the Development Assistant will report directly to the Director of Advancement Services and will be responsible for the following: database management, research, donor relations, events, calendaring and scheduling, customer service, phone outreach, and general administrative functions. The position will be located at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, CA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Database Management: Using Salesforce, maintain and oversee accurate data entry and data integrity for donors and prospects; generate lists and reports for special events, donor outreach, and prospect engagement.
Research: Conduct basic prospect research on individuals, corporations, and foundations for major gifts, exhibit sponsorship, education initiatives, and other projects as requested; assist with donor proposals and reports; maintain proposal profiles and prospect lists.
Calendaring and Scheduling: Manage calendars for the Director of Advancement Services and support gift officers by scheduling donor meetings, confirming appointments, coordinating rooms and Zoom links, arranging travel logistics, and tracking follow-ups.
Customer Service and Phone Outreach: Serve as a friendly, professional first point of contact for donors and visitors; answer and route calls; place outbound calls to schedule meetings, confirm event attendance, and follow up on mailings and emails; respond promptly to donor inquiries and route issues for resolution.
Administrative: Perform clerical functions including word processing, spreadsheet creation, mail merge, report preparation, printing, shipping, copying, editing, collating, filing, monthly expense reports, and other related tasks.
Special Events: Provide event support such as guest check-in, managing invitations and RSVP lists, greeting and engaging donors, and assisting with donor tours.
Miscellaneous: Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proficiency in donor and prospect database management, especially Salesforce or similar systems; proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
Experience in data entry, batch entry, and verification preferred.
Proficiency in clerical functions including mail merge, voicemail, email, internet, filing, and mailing.
Experience with professional calendaring and scheduling; comfort coordinating across multiple calendars and time zones.
Strong customer service orientation; confident and courteous phone presence; “people person” who enjoys engaging with donors, visitors, and colleagues.
Detail oriented with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collegially in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
Ability to work occasional overtime, evenings, and weekend events.
Ability to perform data entry functions quickly and accurately for extended periods.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; uncompromising personal integrity.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships and communications with all Foundation constituents, including fellow staff members and departments within the Foundation.
Salary/Benefits
This is a non-exempt part-time position, with some evenings and weekends required. This position offers an hourly wage of $18.50 and is eligible for overtime. Benefits include PTO, Employee Assistance Program, discount in the Museum Store, and the opportunity to participate in a 403(b) retirement program.
