Frequently Asked Questions about Membership
Q: How soon will I receive my membership packet and card?
If you purchase your membership online please expect to receive your membership packet (includes tax letter and membership card) in approximately 1 week from the day your contribution is received. If you would like to visit the library before you receive your membership packet, simply print out your confirmation page and bring it with you and a picture I.D. If you purchase your membership in person, you may pick up your membership packet at the end of the day if we are able to process it. However, if we are busy then we will mail it to you the following day.
Q: When does my membership expire?
Your membership begins the month you join and expires at the end of the same month a year later.
Q: How many cards are included with my membership?
A member receives one card per membership. However, Chairman and Spouse and Executive Chairman and Spouse receive two membership cards if names are provided.
Q: Can I share a membership? Can my spouse use my membership?
All levels are individual memberships and the member must be present upon entry. Exceptions are only made for the spouse of a member.
Q: How many people can visit under my membership card?
The number of people who receive free admission through your membership depends on the level of membership you have. The Friend level is two per membership (member + one guest) and all other levels are four people (member + three guests).
Q: Why do I have to show a photo I.D. when I use my membership card to enter The Library?
To prevent misuse of membership cards, we require that the member present a photo I.D. upon entering The Reagan Library. As a non-profit organization, we rely on membership dues for much of our support. If memberships were shared by families and neighbors our revenue would be severely reduced. We also want to protect our members should their cards be lost or stolen.
Q: If I forget to bring my membership card, can I still visit the Reagan Library for free?
Yes! Just bring your photo I.D. and stop by the membership desk to verify your current membership status. You will receive free admission for all those eligible under your membership level.
Q: As a member do I need to reserve a time-specific reservation in advance through the Reagan Library online ticketing web site?
No, members have their own check in line for admission to the library and do not need to reserve a specific time to enjoy their benefits. However, members discounted tickets to select temporary exhibits can be pre-purchased online to expedite the check-in process.
Q: How can I replace a lost/stolen membership card?
You can contact us or stop by the Membership desk on your next visit where a replacement card can be printed for you. You will receive your replacement card within 1-2 weeks if you have contacted us via email.
Q: How many times can I visit the Library and Museum with my membership?
With the exception of the E-friend level, all levels of membership receive free admission* to the Library and Museum. There is no limit to the number of visits during the year your membership is current and you can visit the Library and Museum as many times as you like. *However, there may be an additional fee for extraordinary temporary exhibits.
Q: What other Presidential Libraries can I visit with this membership?
All 13 of the National Archive and Records Administration (NARA) Presidential Libraries qualify for free admission based on membership level. You can find a list of NARA Presidential Libraries here.
Q: What part of my membership is tax deductible?
Using IRS rules and regulations, E-Friend, Friend and Family levels are fully tax deductible. All other levels do have a portion that is not tax deductible in compliance with tax laws and this amount will be stated at the bottom of your acknowledgement letter.
Q: Can I purchase a membership for someone else?
Yes, you may gift any level of membership to the recipient of your choice. You can give the gift of membership by going here. Q: Can I upgrade my membership?
Yes, you can upgrade your membership at any point while it is active but, the original expiration date stay the same.
Q: I don’t want to pay for my membership online, can I send you a check?
You may pay by check or credit card, over the phone, via the mail or online.
Q: Can I spread out my membership payments over the year my membership is current?
Yes, we offer monthly, quarterly, semi and annually installments via your credit card. Payments will be automatically charged in accordance with your payment plan and a receipt provided for the full amount at the time you join as a member. You may also sign up for automatic renewal. We will automatically charge your credit card during the renewal process until you decide to cancel your membership.
Q: How can I keep up on events and news at the Reagan Library?
As a member, if you provide us with your email address, you will receive our monthly e-newsletter that contains information on upcoming paid events, free community events and other fun and interesting information. You will also receive our schedule of upcoming events that is mailed quarterly. The Reagan calendar of upcoming events can also be found online here.
