Did my radiocast in Oval O.—talked on several subjects—I.N.F. treaty, Budget problem, Nicaragua etc. The Budget problem is particularly timely. Right now the Congress is battling and I’ve served notice—what I’ll veto if they send some of the things the Demos are pushing. A grey, cold day—so we’ll stay inside. At 3:30 this P.M. I went down the Grand Staircase and greeted about 1,200 of White House military & their familys. I spoke briefly then took a few Q’s & back upstairs. Tomorrow I’ll have to do it again for another group. Rest of day—some desk work & a lot of reading.
