Went over to Justice Dept. and addressed a large group in their auditorium—announcing our new 8 pt. program against drugs, crime & above all—organized crime. We are out to get the “Mob.” Back at the W.H. saw a 20 min. C.I.A. movie on the Soviet Space Prog. They are much further ahead than most people realize and their main effort has been military. This afternoon Pele (the World’s greatest Soccer player) and Steve Moyers (Am’s. top Soccer player) came to see me. They are promoting American participation in the World Cup playoffs which take place every 4 years. We went out in the Rose Garden where 2 small boy soccer teams had gathered—the Stompers (Blair Deaver) & the Green Raiders (George Wills son). The 2 teams squared off with Pele on one team & Moyers on the other. They scrimmaged for about 15 min. It was a lot of fun. Had visitors—Elsa Sandstrom—then Jus Dart. Dropped in on a meeting of top C.E.O.s from the world of business & finance. Everyone is up about the great surge in the stock market—5 straight days & the reduced int. rates. Tonite went over to Nat. C. of C. bldg. & used their closed circuit T.V. network to speak to a dozen Repub. rallies all over the country. Did Q&A. Everything worked out fine.
