A wet foggy day—left for W.H. at 11:30 (have to pack for N.Y. tomorrow). Arrived about noon—a 12:30 lunch and then to desk work & packing. Late in the afternoon a phone call from Billy Graham. He was present last night at a tribute dinner for Paul Harvey. I had taped a speech for the occasion. Billy was most gracious in his praise for my effort & said it was in the top ten of all the speeches I’ve ever made. He made my day.
