View the President's Schedule

Downstairs for a briefing (15 min.) then 3 T.V. 5 min. interviews with Pittsburg & Youngstown stations re our steel decision. The press with the exception of the N.Y. Times has played it as if we aren’t going to do anything to help the industry. I’m going to do my Sat. radio show on just what we are doing. A photo in the Rose Garden with the 50 state Presidents of Jaycees. Then off on A.F.1 to Waterbury Conn.—A giant rally probably 40,000 people. A great crowd—lots of enthusiasm. Mac Baldridge was with us and the Mayor (Dem.) but on our side. The usual photos backstage with Party leaders etc. Flew to N.J. then—a rally in Hammonton—again a big crowd estimated at around 30,000 in a town of 12,000 pop. Then Back to W.H. Dennis & Maureen are here.
