Get away day. I left before Nancy who’s going to our new home in Belair. I’m off by Marine 1 to Long Beach harbor. There on a deck beside a huge container ship I spoke to a few thousand people & then signed our trade bill.
Then it was back in Marine 1 & on down to Orange County for a Pete Wilson fund raiser lunch. A sold out crowd—a dozen Hollywood celebritys rounded up by A. C. Lyles. Very successful—$500,000 raised and crowd most enthusiastic. Then back to L.A. the Century Plaza landing zone. An afternoon of catching up on mail. Finally about 5:30 Nancy arrived. At 6:30 a couple of our medic friends Ollie & John came by. It was with regard to our future examinations. We decided we’d do them at Mayo’s Clinic in Rochester Minn. Then it was dinner & bed.
