A short but busy day, I started taking the “Go Lightly” at 7:30 A.M.—8 oz. glass & every 15 min’s. thereafter for 13 glasses. All preparation for my checkup. At staff time learned Justice Powell was resigning from Supreme Court. I’ll have an appointment to make. We had Frank in early for N.S.C. Colin has gone to Germany to see his son. Had a report on his injuries—they sound horrible. Our main discussion was over a program to head off Cong. from reversing us in the Persian Gulf. In their efforts to “ding” me they are destroying our foreign policy in the entire middle east. They have to be stopped.

After lunch 38 citizens of Dixon Ill. came in for photos. They are all volunteers at my old boyhood home. It was a nice, warm & fun time.

Then it was meeting time with George S. & Sigur—just back from Korea. A good meeting I had to cut short for my check up. First time I ever watched my insides on a screen—the new way of examining the colon. Now on way to Camp D. Had to land at bottom of foothills & drive rest of way—fog at top of mountain.
