Key Facts
President Reagan travels to Mooresville, Indiana to meet with local representatives and discuss the tax reform.
President Reagan travels to the National Air and Space Museum to view the premier of a video on the space program.
Only thing new on hi-jackers was a plane side interview with plane Capt. through the pilot’s window. He confirmed that the 3 crew members were only ones on plane along with Shiite guards. That Capt. is quite a guy—absolutely unruffled.
Don Peterson C.E.O. of Ford stopped by for a photo—he’s against our tax plan I believe.
Then it was off to Mooresville (home of John Dillinger) & Indianapolis Ind. Had an interview on plane with 2 reporters from Indianapolis papers. They dont have that adversarial attitude the Wash. Press has.
In Mooresville I did a drop by at a little café for about 40 or so members of local C. of C. Outside a crowd of 2000 listened in to our discussion of the tax plan. Most of the 40 were small business people who were quite generous in their praise of what our ec. recovery plan had done for them.
Then on to the city for the Nat. Convention of the Jaycees. There I plugged for tax reform to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response.
Back to W.H. Nancys home from N.Y. Tonite we went to the Nat. Air & Space museum & saw a film on the shuttle. It was the closest thing to being in space ourselves seeing it on that 5 story screen.
