President Reagan spends time with 400-500 campaign workers.
Into the office but only for 1⁄2 day—2 hrs. of the morning taken up by a briefing for Europe trip. Then it was off on A.F.1 for Colorado Springs. Paul Laxalt, Ed Rollins & Margaret Hance were along because it was part pol. Arriving in P.M. went directly to the Olympic Committee Training Center. It was great to meet so many of our athletes & to see the remarkable facility that has been put together. I watched our Womens basketball team practice—they could beat a lot of mens teams I’ve seen. Later in day 2 Repub. affairs—one a picture taking & Q&A session with big contributors—Joe Coors Chairing it. Next was about 4 or 500 campaign workers—very enthusiastic. I spoke to them. Then dinner & bed in the Broadmoor.
