President Reagan participates in a meeting to discuss the 1987 budget proposal with a group of corporate chief executive officers.
President Reagan places a call to former President Richard M. Nixon.
At N.S.C. briefing—with snow falling outdoors, Sen. Ted Kennedy came by—he’s off to Moscow Wed. and wanted to check in to make sure he wouldn’t say anything there that would be at cross purposes with us.
Then over to the E.O.B. again to brief about 180 pvt. citizens who are supportive of our budget.
An issues briefing lunch—most of our time spent on budget & tax reform. The same flavor as in the following meeting which was with about 20 top bus. execs. (C.E.O.’s). We had a good exchange & think they’ll be helpful to us in lobbying Cong. A short day so I finished up some desk work & went upstairs. I think they are taking it easy on me because of the “State of the Union” tomorrow nite.
