The Reagan Foundation was pleased to welcome Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Friday, November 16, 2012.
Using an accomplished background as his base, Scott Walker was elected as Wisconsin’s 45th Governor on November 2, 2010 running on a platform of economic growth and job creation. On June 5, 2012, he successfully kept his seat after winning the Wisconsin recall election, making Governor Walker the first U.S. Governor to have successfully kept the seat as governor in a recall election.
Previously, in 2002, Scott was elected County Executive to reform the scandal-ridden county government. He cut the county’s debt by 30%, reduced the county workforce by more than 25% and authored nine consecutive budgets without increasing the property tax levy from the previous year. Despite failing national and state economies, Milwaukee County recorded a budget surplus in 2009.
