Overview
Please join us virtually for a livestream of “The Westminster Dialogues: An Evening with Lech Wałęsa,” on Thursday, February 5. This conversation with the former President of Poland and leader of the Solidarity movement will examine the importance of America’s commitment to supporting freedom and democracy around the world as both a moral imperative and a strategic necessity. Against a backdrop of renewed authoritarian aggression and threats to freedom and democracy, the discussion will explore how shared values continue to shape transatlantic cooperation.
The Reagan Institute’s Center for Freedom and Democracy is hosting this event as part of its new series, “The Westminster Dialogues,” which will feature conversations with important leaders from the United States and around the world on the challenges facing free societies and the enduring necessity of principled American leadership in defending and advancing democratic values. The series takes inspiration from President Reagan’s 1982 speech before the British Parliament at Westminster, in which he outlined his vision for America’s global campaign for freedom and democracy.
Welcome remarks from Reagan Institute Director Roger Zakheim will begin at 4:30 PM EST, followed by an address from President Wałęsa and conversation moderated by Policy Director Rachel Hoff. The livestream link will be available before the event.
