Overview
Please join the Ronald Reagan Institute and the Thomas B. Fordham Institute on Thursday, October 1 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM for a conversation and book signing with Senator Lamar Alexander on his new book, The Education of a Senator: From JFK to Trump. We will begin with a moderated conversation at 5:15 PM with Chester E. Finn, Jr., followed by audience Q & A, concluding with a reception and book signing. In-person guests will receive a free copy of the book courtesy of the Ronald Reagan Institute’s Center for Civics, Education and Opportunity.
The Education of a Senator is a behind-the-scenes story of the last sixty years of American politics, told with purpose and humor by a political legend who worked with ten presidents. "Alexander’s education accomplishments span the book,” according to Education Next. Alexander chaired the Senate education committee, where he shepherded the law that today governs K-12 education. As governor, Alexander made Tennessee the first state to pay teachers more for teaching well. He was U.S. Secretary of Education for George H.W. Bush, with whom he launched America 2000. He also served as President of the University of Tennessee.
