STATEMENT BY FRED RYAN, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF THE RONALD REAGAN PRESIDENTIAL FOUNDATION AND INSTITUTE ON THE DEATH OF ROSALYNN CARTER
Simi Valley, California – The Reagan Foundation joins our fellow Americans and people around the world in mourning the passing of former first lady Rosalynn Carter.
She has forever changed the world through her tireless work over four decades improving the quality of life for people around the world, especially those with mental health issues. Whether it was her efforts in getting the Mental Health Systems Act passed in 1980 or chairing the Carter Center’s Mental Health Task Force, Rosalynn has made the world a better place for millions of people – and her work, and her legacy, will continue to improve the lives of Americans for decades to come.
President Reagan once remarked that the presidency wouldn’t have been the joy it had been without Nancy Reagan by his side. We know that President Carter was as lucky as President Reagan – with Rosalynn by his side, President Carter was indeed a lucky and fortunate man.
Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the President Carter and the entire Carter family.
