Simi Valley, California – The Reagan Foundation and Institute mourns the loss of Ken Duberstein, a man that Ronald Reagan called a “valuable asset” to his presidency. Ken Duberstein served in many key positions within the Reagan Administration, including as President Reagan’s Chief of Staff from 1988-1989. He was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by President Reagan in 1989, one of the highest civilian honors in the U.S., for performing exemplary deeds or services for his country.
Mrs. Reagan often remarked how grateful she was that Ken was willing to serve as Chief of Staff for the final six months of her husband’s administration, saying that “he helped make the transition from the White House back to private life much smoother” for her and President Reagan.
