Ten distinguished American leaders landed in Taiwan this morning to begin a series of political, diplomatic, security, and business engagements
Simi Valley, CA – A delegation of distinguished Americans, led by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI), landed in Taiwan this morning to begin a five-day study mission at the invitation of the Taiwan government. The visit serves as an opportunity to strengthen the friendship and ties between Taiwan and the United States, learn about the security issues Taiwan faces, and promote shared values of freedom, democracy, and economic opportunity.
“The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is honored to lead this delegation to Taiwan, a vibrant democracy and key economic partner in the Indo-Pacific region,” said David Trulio, President and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. “The Taiwanese people share President Reagan’s enduring principles of individual liberty, economic opportunity, and freedom and democracy. We look forward to a fruitful week of substantive discussions and visits.”
The delegation, composed of leaders with deep experience across government, public policy, and business, will participate in a series of meetings designed to strengthen ties between the United States and Taiwan, including engagements with the Taiwan government, multiple political parties, diplomats, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as defense and business leaders.

The Reagan Foundation previously hosted President Tsai Ing-wen and former U.S. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, and accompanying government officials and bi-partisan legislators, in April 2023 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. President Tsai previously visited the Reagan Library in 2018.
“RRPFI's upcoming visit to Taiwan demonstrates its solidarity with the people of Taiwan, in the face of growing authoritarian threat to the shared values exemplified by President Reagan,” said Bi-khim Hsiao, Taiwan Representative to the United States. “We look forward to in-depth discussions with RRPFI's delegation on issues of mutual concern.”
President Reagan helped to establish the groundwork for U.S. relations with Taiwan through the Six Assurances in 1982, which continue to inform U.S. diplomacy with Taipei in the modern day. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is eager to engage with Taiwanese leadership and continue to advance President Reagan’s vision of a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
