The Shroud Conspiracy by John Heubusch-Available with author's signature
SKU: BKH444
Many visitors to the Reagan Library and members of the Reagan Foundation have had the opportunity to meet with or hear its Executive Director, John Heubusch, over the years. John has been honored to interview world figures, politicians and best-selling authors on the exclusive Reagan Library stage. In addition to his role at the Reagan Foundation and Library, John is also a proven writer with a good deal of work to his credit. His first novel, The Shroud Conspiracy, will be published by Simon and Schuster in March, 2017. Most of the proceeds from every one of his books bought from our store website goes directly to the Reagan Foundation and helps us to preserve and promote Ronald Reagan’s legacy. Here’s a summary of the book: “In this intense thriller, a brilliant forensic anthropologist sets out to prove that the famous Shroud of Turin, one of the most revered artifacts in Christianity and the supposed burial cloth of Jesus Christ, is a fake. But he quickly discovers the opposite could be true—and must race to stop the evil forces who want to use the Shroud for their own evil designs. Throughout his career, forensic anthropologist and outspoken atheist Dr. Jon Bondurant has investigated many religious artifacts said to be real, but he knows better. Only weak minds rely on such obviously false relics to maintain their pointless faith. So when he is invited by the Vatican to examine the Shroud of Turin he is delighted for the opportunity to prove once and for all that the Shroud is a fraud. But when he meets Domenika Josef, the beautiful and devout Vatican representative who finds him arrogant and self-important, he realizes his task will not be as straightforward as he once thought. Domenika believes that the relic is real, and wants nothing more than to rescue the tarnished reputation of the church by announcing the good news of the authentic Shroud. As Bondurant and his team examine every element of the Shroud, he and Domenika begin to see each other in a whole new light. And as the evidence about the origin of this highly controversial piece of fabric starts to pile up, he begins to realize that he’s been blind to the truth in many ways. When a sample of the blood from the Shroud—believed to be the real blood of Jesus Christ—vanishes, he realizes his problems are just beginning. The DNA traces in that sample could have earth-shattering consequences if they fall into the wrong hands. When Domenika vanishes too, Bondurant is caught in a globe-spanning chase to rescue the woman he loves—and stop the evil forces who have their own motives for the Shroud.” About the Author: “John Heubusch is the executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Library and the author of The Shroud Conspiracy and its sequel, The Second Coming. He has had a vast career in philanthropy, politics, public service, and the Fortune 500. He has served as the first president of the Waitt Institute, a nonprofit research organization dedicated to historic discovery and scientific exploration, and where he helped lead to the discovery, authentication, and preservation of the famed lost Gospel of Judas, the ancient text deemed to be heretical and ordered destroyed by the early Christian Church. Cited often by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times, Heubusch has been a contributing writer for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Forbes, The San Diego Union-Tribune, and other leading publications.” Hardcover. Dr. Jon Bondurant, one of the world’s foremost forensic anthropologists, joins with the Vatican’s Domenika Josef to bring a second child of the Shroud into the world, this one borne of DNA believed to be that of Jesus Christ. Can this child be the answer to their—and the world’s—prayers? Might he bring miracles to the world when it needs it the most? SKU: BKP211
Ronald Reagan’s daughter writes with a moving openness about losing her father to Alzheimer’s disease. The simplicity with which she reveals the intensity, the rush, the flow of her feelings encompasses all the surprises and complexities that ambush us when death gradually, unstoppably invades life. In this moving and illuminating portrait of a woman and her father, Patti Davis describes saying goodbye in stages, helpless against the onslaught of a disease that steals what is most precious—a person’s memory. “Alzheimer’s,” she writes, “snips away at the threads, a slow unraveling, a steady retreat; as a witness all you can do is watch, cry, and whisper a soft stream of goodbyes.” She writes of needing to be reunited at forty-two with her mother, of regaining what they had spent decades demolishing. A truce was necessary to bring together a splintered family, a few weeks before her father released his letter telling the country and the world of his illness. She delves into her memories to touch her father again, to hear his voice, to keep alive the years she had with him. Available with autographed bookplate. Limited quantities available.

Wine and the White House-Frederick J. Ryan, Jr - Available with Autographed Bookplate
SKU: BKH583
The first book of its kind, Wine and the White House is a comprehensive journey through the history of White House hospitality that explores every president’s experience of wine. The fully illustrated pages also feature memorable presidential toasts, menus from historic White House gatherings, a catalog of vintages served, and spectacular new photography of the White House glassware collection. Early presidents recognized the important function wine played in entertaining at the White House. While some appreciated and enjoyed wine, others considered it merely a ceremonial necessity. Still others campaigned to outlaw wine and banned it from the White House; their successors celebrated its return. More recently, all presidents, regardless of whether they enjoyed wine themselves, have used the White House as a venue to showcase the fine wines produced in the United States. The author, Frederick J. Ryan, Jr., served as Assistant to the President from 1982 to 1989, and as his post presidential Chief of Staff from 1989-1995. Available with autographed bookplate. Movie Nights by Mark Weinberg-Available with autographed bookplate
SKU: BKP236
Movie Nights with the Reagans by Mark Weinberg. Former special advisor and press secretary to President Ronald Reagan shares an intimate, behind-the-scenes look inside the Reagan presidency—told through the movies they watched together every week at Camp David. What did President Ronald Reagan think of Rocky IV? How did the Matthew Broderick film WarGames inform America’s missile defense system? What Michael J. Fox movie made such an impression on President Reagan that he felt compelled to mention it in a speech to the Joint Session of Congress? Over the course of eight years, Mark Weinberg travelled to Camp David each weekend with Ronald and Nancy Reagan. He was one of a few select members invited into the Aspen Lodge, where the First Family screened both contemporary and classic movies on Friday and Saturday nights. They watched movies in times of triumph, such as the aftermath of Reagan’s 1984 landslide, and after moments of tragedy, such as the explosion of the Challenger and the shooting of the President and Press Secretary Jim Brady. Weinberg’s unparalleled access offers a rare glimpse of the Reagans—unscripted, relaxed, unburdened by the world, with no cameras in sight. Each chapter discusses a legendary film, what the Reagans thought of it, and provides warm anecdotes and untold stories about his family and the administration. From Reagan’s pranks on the Secret Service to his thoughts on the parallels between Hollywood and Washington, Weinberg paints a full picture of the president The New Yorker once famously dubbed “The Unknowable.” Movie Nights with the Reagans is a nostalgic journey through the 1980s and its most iconic films, seen through the eyes of one of Hollywood’s former stars: one who was simultaneously transforming the Republican Party, the American economy, and the course of the Cold War. Available with Reagan Library bookplate following author's appearance at the Reagan Library March 6, 2018. Paperback. Pages 1-288. 5.5 x 1 x 8.38" inches. Available with autographed bookplate.
