Addressed the annual meeting of the World Bank & International Monetary fund. While only 125 delegates from nations all over the world, the actual crowd numbered more than 1000. All had staff, finance ministers etc. I was amazed to learn our S.S. agents had to disarm a great many until after I spoke. It seems they bring bodyguards because of the fear of kidnapping or assassination. Day ended happily when at 10 P.M. I learned the Sen. had passed the debt limit extension so we wouldn’t go out of business Oct. 5.
