View the President's Schedule

It’s so nice with Cong. gone. Had an Ec. briefing with Sec. Baker, Beryl Sprinkle & top staff. It wasn’t too pleasant. The Ec. is sluggish & we’ve revised our projections down. The mkt. dropped 61.87 points yesterday & another 18 today. Don R. says the money funds are playing games. Had an interview with John Casserly who is doing a biography of Barry Goldwater. Geo. B. & I lunched together. Then an interview with the N.Y. Daily News.

A meeting with Strom Thurmond who feels it’s time to have a Sup. Ct. Justice from the South. His name is Wilkins & he’s a good man. I think maybe it’s time. Strom also thinks Justice Powell is soon going to resign.

Then a cocktail hour in the Library with 5 of our W.H. Press. Haven’t done this in quite awhile. Spent most of our time on East vs. West & some on S. Africa.

Back home & lonesome—Nancy is in N.Y. tonite.
