Leadership and the American Presidency Frequently Asked Questions.

  1. I am a high school student interested in Leadership and the American Presidency, can I apply?
The Leadership and the American Presidency program is only available to students who have completed at least one semester worth of college credit on a college or university campus. Many students in high school have the opportunity to earn credit through Advanced Placement courses or Dual Enrollment offerings, however, high school students with those credits are still ineligible to apply. We highly encourage interested high school students to revisit the Leadership and the American Presidency program application once they have finished completed one semester on a college campus with a 2.8 GPA or above.

  2. Will credit transfer back to my home university?
The courses that you will take while participating in Leadership and the American Presidency are accredited through George Mason University. We recommend meeting with your academic advisor and your registrar’s office at your home institution to ensure that the credit that you receive from this program will transfer.

  3. I am a non-traditional college student, am I able to participate in LTAP?
We welcome non-traditional-aged college students to Leadership and the American Presidency. Recognizing that many now enter institutions of higher learning at different times in their lives, we are pleased to offer this opportunity to students varying in ages and backgrounds.

  4. What kind of financial aid is available for LTAP students?
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute is committed to offering scholarship assistance to all who apply. Awards vary in amount, but a limited number of full scholarships are available. Be sure to complete the scholarship application with your online application to the program. Many additional scholarship offerings may be available through outside funding sources, including departments at your college or university.

  5. I am an international student. Am I eligible to participate in LTAP?
Yes! We welcome international students who bring a unique voice and contribute to the diversity of ideas in the LTAP program. For information on obtaining your J1 visa, please visit our partner organization’s website.
