As part of the Reagan Library’s Secrets of WWII exhibition, we will be holding various book events with authors whose books cover World War II.  Our first event will be with New York Times bestselling author Marcus Brotherton, for his brand-new book, A Bright and Blinding Sun: A World War II Story of Survival, Love and Redemption (Publish Date: May 24, 2022). Copies of his book can be pre-purchased through our website’s registration process. To register for the event and/or to pre-purchase a book, please click here.

A Bright and Blinding Sun is the incredible true war story of an underage soldier (only 12 years old!) who experiences his first love and loss on the battlefields of Bataan and Corregidor. After months on the battlefield, Joe Johnson, Jr. endured years of horror as a prisoner of war, only dreaming about seeing again the girl he’d come to love while he served in the Philippines.  This lyrically written and deeply encouraging saga will remind you that every life can be lifted, forgiveness is the patron of restoration, and redemption is available to all.

Marcus Brotherton writes powerful, poignant books about people doing noble things.  His other works include Blaze of Light and Grateful American, which he co-wrote with Gary Sinise.
