“The terrorists who planned and carried out this cynical and cowardly attack have failed in their purpose. They mistakenly believe that if they’re cruel enough and violent enough, they will weaken American resolve and deter us from our effort to help build a lasting and secure peace. Well, if they think that, they don’t know too much about America.” – Ronald Reagan, 1983

The Reagan Foundation is honored to host a 20th anniversary commemoration of 9/11 in conjunction with Veterans and Military Business Owners Association (VAMBOA) and America Salutes You.  This in-person event will include keynote remarks by Colonel David Sutherland (Ret), co-founder and Chairman of the Center for Military and Veterans Community Services.  Colonel Sutherland served for 29 years, including as the special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He has been a critical voice for post 9/11 veterans as they transition from a decade of war to our civilian communities.  The program also includes remarks by Marc Manfro, NYPD (retired), as well as live music and a tribute to our fallen heroes.

We recommend arriving at the Reagan Library early and touring through the Library’s new FBI Exhibit (admission rates apply).  The exhibit, which focuses on the storied career and history of the FBI has an entire gallery dedicated to 9-11.  Some objects on display include two pieces of the jet engine as well as a piece of the landing gear from United Airlines Flight 175 that was supposed to fly from Boston to LAX but instead was crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center, an FBI jacket from an agent who lost his life in the building collapse, an oral history with an FBI agent who worked the Recovery Response after the attacks and more.  www.reaganlibrary.com/fbi
