Schedule
10:00 a.m.
and
1:00 p.m.
On Sunday, December 15th, the Reagan Library will present a free holiday concert with its ninth annual “A Saxophone Christmas.” Students, alumni and music directors from Ventura County will participate in two free concerts celebrating the holiday spirit, playing only saxophones. Each of the two concerts lasts 45 minutes and begin at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The concerts will include a variety of holiday favorites in a variety of styles.
Following these events, visitors are encouraged to tour through Christmas Around the World (museum admission applies), the Reagan Library’s winter wonderland featuring 26 exquisitely decorated trees representing the 26 countries that President Reagan visited while in office, as well as a White House Tree. Decorations encompass the bright and festive colors of the Caribbean, the crystals of the Nordic countries and the traditional decorations of England and Europe. Of particular note is the Vatican tree decorated entirely with white ornaments featuring a life-size white peacock that adorns the tree’s branches. The featured tree is an elegant reproduction of President and Mrs. Reagan’s White House tree complete with “Reagan Red” decorations and dozens of hand-blown glass ornaments.
In addition, for the first time ever, the Reagan Library is proud to announce that this year’s Christmas Exhibition includes an exclusive engagement of “An American Winter, Impressions in Watercolor by Thomas William Jones”. White House Christmas Card artist Thomas William Jones was introduced to Mrs. Reagan and, in 1985, he was asked to paint the Reagan’s Christmas Card with an image of the White House Blue Room. He ended up painting not just that 1985 card, but those for the remaining three years of the Reagan’s Christmas at the White House. Admired American artist Thomas William Jones is known for his mastery of the watercolor medium. Through sensitive brushwork, Jones creates his evocative and varied subjects; giving the viewer a sense of ‘having been there.’
*Museum admission tickets provide access to the main Reagan Museum, the Air Force One Pavilion, Christmas Around the World, as well as the Reagan Library’s main special exhibit, Egypt’s Lost Cities.
