REAGAN & THATCHER: The Special Relationship Between the United Kingdom and the United States and the Friendship that Changed the World
April 13 - June 2, 2019
As the United States and the United Kingdom share a common relationship, so have the President and the Prime Minister. But none has been as well known or enduring as the friendship between Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. This relationship was able to transcend the usual politics and differences in personal styles. At the crux of the Reagan-Thatcher relationship was a deep commitment to shared principles, mutual support, and a genuine personal friendship.
The first ever exhibition presented by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum dedicated to exploring the relationship between President Reagan and Baroness Thatcher, both professional and personal, displaying a collection of artifacts and documents which have never before been exhibited together. It will explore the basis of their relationship, the similarities of their upbringings, the events and periods which shaped them, as well as the tumultuous world of the Cold War as they each took the highest office in the land.
