What has four legs and trims brush?
Sometimes the old ways of doing things still work best. Like using goats to trim excess vegetation!
Goats are hardy, friendly animals that will eat almost any vegetation in sight. By managing growth, they help protect property from wildfires. During the Easy Fires last year, the goat program helped save the Reagan Library by slowing down the spread of fire.
Once a year, for about two weeks, we are visited by a herd of about 360 goats, from a local contractor, provided courtesy of the Ventura County Fire Department. You should see them go to work! They are clean, efficient, and comfortable on rough and rugged terrain.
President Reagan, you’ll recall, liked to clear brush in his spare time. We think he’d be pleased to see this important job being handled by a herd of goats. And we think you’ll enjoy watching them, too.
