Sarah Smith

Sarah's advocacy began when she was just 14 years old. Beyond her years, she became aware that national funding for career and technical education was being cut. Realizing the importance of these courses, which include agriculture, family and consumer sciences, health, technology, and business, Sarah thoroughly researched federal policies and met with lawmakers. Through her roles as a Girls Nation senator and a national officer for the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, she regularly meets with elected officials on these topics. President of the student council and the National Honor Society, Sarah also serves as captain of the speech, dance, and track teams. She also is a member of Future Farmers of America, and works as an assistant farmhand. Sarah is from Brunswick, Neb., and will study family and consumer sciences education at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
