Emily Nagamoto

$1500 Recipient
newbury park High School
duke university

Emily was described as “a friend to everyone who makes all feel included.” She has held leadership positions in a variety of organizations -- from the Interact club to a cultural club to the tennis team. Emily's positivity and resourcefulness earned a leadership role over 50 fellow student volunteers at a health clinic. President of the Girl Up club, she has made her strongest mark as co-editor-in-chief and chief photographer of the school newspaper, where she advocates for free speech and ethical journalism, and leads her staff well. This young lady is no stranger to any of us at the Reagan Foundation and Library.  Over the years, through her time in the Student Leadership Program, as an Ambassador, as a participant in our various programs, and as a volunteer, we have watched her mature into the extraordinary young woman that she is today – patient, dedicated, caring, empathetic, passionate, ambitious, responsible – and always with a smile on her face.  From Newbury Park High School, congratulations to Emily Nagamoto, who will attend Duke University.

She serves as Corps Commander for the Air Force JROTC program over 150 cadets and leading numerous Corps squadrons with oversight over operations, fundraising efforts, and much more.
