Otto Tielemans

Otto’s multiple expeditions to Central America exposed him to the realities of poverty and corrupt governments, prompting him to start a chapter of Amnesty International at his school to encourage students to get involved in the cause for human rights. His keen interest in government, history and international relations is reflected in his choice (and selection) to intern for a State Senator, his completion of a Georgetown University summer program, and the way he encouraged other students to speak their opinions and views about issues as an Opinion Editor at his school. His role as Opinion Editor garnered him the Dragon Press Best Initiative Award. Otto is graduating from Foothill Technology High School and plans to study international affairs at George Washington University this fall.
