$3,000 Scholarship RecipientTwo of Ashley-Lynn’s passions are her involvement with the Ventura County Health Care Agency and with the Girl Scouts of America. Because she felt that people in Ventura County would benefit from a program that supported physical activity, Ashley-Lynn created the Walk for Health program, intended for all age groups. Currently, Walk for Health has over 350 members who email their steps taken and miles covered regularly. She maintains this program and in 2012, presented certificates to members for walking over 20,000 miles. Additionally, Ashley-Lynn has demonstrated leadership, developed projects in tandem with her community, and explored community needs, resulting in her earning a Girl Scout Gold Award, an accolade fewer than 3% of Girl Scouts earn. Ashley-Lynn will be graduating from Ventura High School and will study computer science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University this fall.
