Zach epitomizes the idea of turning passion into both work and service. In his case, this passion is robotics. He served as captain of the world champion Rice University robotics team and has committed nearly 350 hours of service teaching robotics to younger students. He was a Texas high school aerospace scholar, and has already interned for NASA – not to mention Stanford University and the University of Texas. Zach also was co-captain of the University of California: Berkeley’s collegiate hackathon. Zach, you have more connections to prestigious universities as a high school student that most people will ever have! Beyond robotics and engineering, Zach was co-captain of the varsity tennis team, founder of the varsity sailing and rowing team, bass drum section leader for the marching band, and served the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, his church, and more. From Galveston, Texas, Zachary will attend the University of California: Berkeley in the fall.
