Sunny is described as a global thinker with integrity and drive. Opening his eyes to the needs around him, Sunny founded two nonprofits to impact children in North Carolina and across the globe. Through (L)earn of NC, he collects used laptop donations, teaches children computer fundamentals, and donates to them the refurbished products. He has taught English in an Indian village, and led efforts to raise money for victims of natural disasters around the world. Back at home, Sunny was an All-State tennis captain, president of his class, founder of the political debate club, president of the STEM club, prosecutor of the year for the Wilson County Teen Court, and a school representative for both the County Student Advisory Council and the YMCA Young Leader’s Institute. Not only was he a member of his school’s varsity soccer team, but he also served as head coach for a team of seven- and eight-year-old soccer players. A native of Wilson, N.C., Shivraj will be attending Princeton University in the fall.
