Number one in her high school class, Luz was vice president of the National Honor Society. Her strength in science and math led her receive the initiative award as vice president of the STEM association, an officer of the mad scientist club, and captain of the all-girls robotics team. Her aptitude in STEM has transitioned into volunteer work as captain of an effort to mentor students in VEX Robotics. Her service extended to a deep commitment to her church, as well as a role as a food and clothing drive leader among other projects. At school, she was treasurer of the Interact Club and members of the AP Spanish Literature Club, mock trial, and culture club. From Lake Elsinore, Calif., Luz will attend the University of California: Berkeley in the fall.
