When you review Austin’s achievements, you will notice a common theme: the title “president” or “captain” before nearly every activity. He served as president of his class and the student council, along with captain of the varsity cross country team, FIRST robotics team, and golf team. He credits his leadership and stewardship skills largely to Boys Scouts, where he earned his Eagle Scout designation by completing a project to renovate a park shelter, saving his community $18,000. He balanced Scouts, sports, and other activities with work and service – including for his church, several opportunities to teach and mentor younger students, and as a mechanic for the Experimental Aircraft Association War Birds of America. With plans to study mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University in the fall, Austin hails from Sheboygan Falls, Wisc. Congratulations, Austin.
