If Cindy sees an area of weakness or injustice, you better believe she will take it upon herself to address it. After being disappointed that her peers did not share her appreciation for art, Cindy founded the Human Empathy Rights Organization or HERO which advocates for medicine and international relations through artwork, poems, and essays. Today, this group consists of nearly 600 members at her high school and Valencia College, where she has been dual enrolled. It was at Valencia where she realized there was a deficiency in the support for pre-med students, so she started the Valencia College Pre-Med Club. Cindy's activities extend further to music, politics, environmental sustainability, science, and swimming. Her vast service contributions include Health Central Hospital, Orlando Science Center, Second Harvest Food Bank, and mentoring. Cindy is from Ocoee, Fla., and will study microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami in the fall.
