After moving to Nigeria with her family at a young age, tragedy stirred in Christiana a passion for improving the public health systems of developing countries. Locally, she serves as president of the third-largest chapter of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Christiana observed the unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise in her community and created the Healthy Living Initiative through HOSA, which included awareness campaigns and programs. She also volunteers for a number of organizations that support the underserved in her community. Beyond her passion for healthcare, Christiana has played active roles in her student government, National Honor Society, the science club, the BETA club, the academic book club, and on the volleyball team. From East Point, Ga., Christiana will study biology and global health at Duke University in the fall.
