As co-founder of the Alpha Active Leo Club, Alejandro aimed to engage his fellow students in service projects that improve the community through education, environmental awareness, and cultural appreciation. Through this leadership experience, he realized he was not only changing his community, but also refining his own character. Alejandro and his classmates have done everything from collecting toys for underprivileged youth and singing Christmas carols to distributing school supplies and meals. More recently, they have served as mentors for refugee children escaping hostile situations. Alejandro has already completed an associate’s degree in science through his early college high school, and will leave Houston, Texas and study biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech in the fall.
