“I was told that I was too busy, but those who think that are not passionate.” While Charlotte did keep busy excelling in a myriad of activities such as academics, choir, Varsity Volleyball, and clubs such as Teens Taking Action, she most notably created opportunities to express her leadership and creative skills through one of her greatest passions - film. As the only youth member of the Sister City Commission, she led and directed a documentary about how her city developed a relationship with its sister city in Ghana. Charlotte won the Chicago International Film Festival Youth Award for a music video, and the Adrenaline Film Festival Runner-Up Jury Award, where her team produced a film chosen by a panel consisting of directors and producers of well-known movies. Another passion of Charlotte’s is working with and teaching English to international students. She has had the opportunity to become one herself - this past year she studied Arabic in Morocco through a National Security Language Initiative Scholarship from the State Department.
