Jordan does not allow the fact that she is hearing impaired to define her or keep her from accomplishing her goals, but it has influenced her desire to be of service to others with disabilities. In junior high, she created a program called “Don’t Dis’ the Disabled” and worked with multiple agencies to introduce the programs in seven schools spanning five districts. As part of a national Youth Summit on Inclusion, Jordan helped create an “I am Norm” campaign that is readily available on the Internet and through non-profits and school districts. She was President of the National Youth Council on Inclusion and the Rotary International Interact Club. Jordan, who is from San Diego, CA, hopes to attend law school and later practice disability or environmental law after attending Yale University.
