While interning for Congressman Dan Lungren, Blake created a report on Columbia’s humanitarian crisis and initiated and drafted foreign policy legislation on child conscription in Somalia that later was considered by Congress. He was the founder of his school’s National Spanish Honor Society. He helped build homes for families in a Mexican orphanage, was involved in Amnesty International, and was the treasurer of the Future Business Leaders of America at his school. The youngest person to receive the Congressional Gold Medal for youth in 2010, Blake, who is from Gold River, CA, plans to pursue his passion for international relations as a U.S. ambassador after attending Rice University.
