The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the legacy of Ronald Reagan and his timeless principles of individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy, and national pride.  It sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Ronald Reagan Institute, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion and the award-winning Air Force One Discovery Center.  Located in Simi Valley, California, the Library houses over 55 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers and over 60,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Job Description/Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources/Payroll professional with solid communication skills who will provide both onsite and administrative support to all members of our teams in both Simi Valley, California and Washington, D.C.  The Specialist will be located in Simi Valley and will be expected to be onsite no less than four days a week to be available for employee questions, concerns, and to administer paperwork for all phases of human resources activity. In addition, he/she will be in charge of maintaining and submitting payroll on a bi-weekly basis.  He/she will report jointly to the CFO and Chief Administrative Officer.  Specifically, there will be duties and responsibilities in the following areas:

     Payroll

  • Process biweekly payrolls and ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely;

     Human Resources/Staffing

  • Review job descriptions, keep them updated for required legal wording, manage internal and external job postings;
  • Work with all new candidates to complete application, and then guide them through background screening, notifying supervisors when completed;
  • Write all letters of employment to new employees, customizing each one for the various departments and jobs;
  • Complete all onboarding documents with professional employer partner/organization;
  • Create and maintain “hard copy” personnel folder;
  • Perform administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, including layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence;
  • Support company-wide information meetings or trainings, i.e. harassment in the workplace;
  • Administer annual performance review program;
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations;
  • Maintain current Employee Handbook;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum of 5 years as Payroll Specialist, as well as 5 years of relevant Human Resources experience;
  • PHR/SHRM-CP not required, but it would be a plus;
  • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff;
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication abilities, including good listening and comprehension skills;
  • Exemplary personnel skills, including courtesy, sensitivity, prompt responses and ability to manage difficult or emotional employee situations;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook;
  • Performs effectively and professionally under pressure;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask and prioritize;
  • A proactive approach and “no task is too big or too small” mentality; and,
  • Ability to work Foundation events including, but not limited, to the annual Reagan National Defense Forum at the end of November/first weekend in December.

Salary, Benefits and Job Location

This is a non-exempt regular part-time position, approximately 25-28 hours per week.  The position is located at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, California.  This position will be compensated based on experience, in a range of $30.00-$35.00 per hour, and will be eligible for overtime.  This position offers the opportunity to participate in a retirement program as well as Paid Time Off (PTO) benefits based on hours accrued per pay period and years of service.
