Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan charged with continuing his legacy and sharing his principles - individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy and national pride. The Foundation is a non-partisan organization which sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion, the award-winning Discovery Center and the Reagan Institute, which carries out the Foundation’s mission in Washington, D.C. The Reagan Library houses over 55 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers and over 60,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. The Reagan Leadership Academy

The Reagan Leadership Academy (RLA) is an immersive, educational experience designed to inspire the next generation of student leaders.  The RLA allows students to face the responsibilities and challenges faced by the Executive Branch, military, and media in a realistic, highly-produced, interactive environment. Students will practice and improve their leadership, critical thinking and decision-making skills in a simulation where students lead and the stakes are high.

Job Description

The Transition Coordinator, a part-time position, provides support to students/teachers during the Reagan Leadership Academy and Student Leadership Program, from student arrivals, lunch supervision, volunteer/docent coordination, student departures, as well as, administratively supporting the education team. The Transition Coordinator helps manage the flow of the school’s visit and schedule. During the Student Leadership Program, the Transition Coordinator serves as an important logistical component of the shift and movement of students during the daylong schedule of events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tour students through the museum campus
  • Greet school buses, off-load lunches, organize students and teachers
  • Supervise the on-site lunch hour
  • Complete any department mailings
  • Complete administrative tasks as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma required
  • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff
  • Experience with school-aged children (volunteer, teacher’s aide, community-based organizations accepted)
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with all visitors and staff, and supervise students, teachers, chaperones, volunteers, and guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including basic Microsoft Office computer programs, iOS/Apple technology and Google Docs
  • Demonstrate proficiency in digital platforms including Zoom, Hopin, and Google Workspace
  • Excellent judgment, as well as strategic problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work as part of a team and to multi-task
  • Physical demands include: lifting of lunch bins (up to 10-15 lbs.), frequent walking and use of stairs, as well as long periods of standing

Salary/Benefits/Location

  • This is a non-exempt part-time position with some evenings and weekends requested
  • This position will be compensated on a $16.50 per hour basis and will be eligible for overtime
  • Benefits include Paid Time Off (PTO) based on hours accrued per pay period and years of service.
  • The position will be located at The Air Force One Discovery Center at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Simi Valley, California
