The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute (RRPFI) is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the legacy of Ronald Reagan and his timeless principles of individual liberty, economic opportunity, global democracy, and national pride.  It sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, the Ronald Reagan Institute, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion and the award-winning Air Force One Discovery Center.  Located in Simi Valley, California the Library houses over 55 million pages of Gubernatorial, Presidential and personal papers and over 60,000 gifts and artifacts chronicling the lives of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. The Reagan Library also serves as the final resting place of America’s 40th President and his first lady.

Education at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute

Our education vision at RRPFI is core to our nonprofit mission and stems from Ronald Reagan’s Farewell Address to the Nation just days from leaving office. He said, “an informed patriotism is what we want.” Thus, our focus in education is cultivating the next generation of citizen-leaders. Each year, we serve more than 70,000 students and teachers through a variety of programs designed for audiences ranging from elementary school through university and beyond. Our aim is not just to have students participate in a specific program or visit and tour the famous Reagan Museum. Rather, we aim to support them throughout their civic leadership journey from elementary school through university and beyond. Ultimately, our intent is that each student feels welcome on campus and in our programs, and that they see themselves as part of a broader narrative about what it means to serve their community as an engaged and informed leader.

As a result of the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the Education program at RRPFI are at a strategic and exciting crossroads. Though our work has long had a focus on place-based programming, we are seeking to create new avenues to serve students and classrooms across the country in the digital space. This includes virtual programs, field trips, and new online training opportunities that will provide students across the country with an opportunity to build their skills as communicators and leaders. As a result, we are looking for teammates with new skillsets to help broaden our offerings.

Broadly speaking the work includes the following:

  • School Programs: Our onsite field trip and professional development team.
    • This includes the Reagan Leadership Academy, an immersive, educational experience designed to allow students to build their leadership, communication, and decision-making skills through historic role play in a realistic, interactive environment. • Professional Development and Speaker Events, including teacher trainings, conferences, special speakers, and other programs, and curriculum development.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Broadly speaking, national programming that focuses on leadership development.
