Nancy Reagan - A First Lady's Style:

Nancy Reagan -- A First Lady's Style, The newest exhibit at The Reagan Library, illustrates the important roles Mrs. Reagan played in the White House -- from hostess and ambassador, to public servant and spokesperson, to loyal and caring wife -- by exhibiting over 80 of her dresses, suits and gowns. The dresses displayed span over fifty years - beginning with her March 4, 1952 wedding dress and ending with the skirt suit she wore to President Reagan's funeral in June of 2004.

This historic exhibit not only honors Mrs. Reagan, but also pays tribute to the men and women who helped define her style. The exhibit displays designs by Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass, Valentino Garavani, James Galanos, Carolina Herrera, Adolfo, Yves St. Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, Jean Louis and Chanel.

The exhibit will run through November 10, 2008.

The exhibit was designed by WRJ Design Associates, LLC. in collaboration with the Reagan Library staff.

The Emancipation Proclamation on Display at Reagan Library:

• President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of the civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free." This historic five-page document, on loan from the National Archives and Records Administration, will be on display at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library from September 19, 2008 through September 22, 2008. For preservation purposes, this original document is only allowed to be on display for four days each calendar year. This is an extraordinary opportunity for the Southern California community to view this national treasure. To accommodate as many guests as possible, the Reagan Library will offer extended hours on those four days. Please check back here for exact hours in the coming month.

Members will be notified in advance with additional event details.
