Medal of Honor Panel

On Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 10 AM, the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Presidential Learning Center, in partnership with the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, will host a panel of Medal of Honor Recipients who will share their stories of courage, commitment and sacrifice with a student audience.

Featuring Medal of Honor Recipients:

  • Technician Fifth Grade, Corporal Bob Maxwell, U.S. Army, World War II (Oldest living Recipient of the Medal of Honor)
  • Colonel Jay Vargas, U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam War
  • Lieutenant Colonel Joe Jackson U.S. Air Force 311th Air Commando Squadron, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War
  • Leroy Petry, Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army, War on Terror, Iraq War and War in Afghanistan.

The Medal of Honor Character Development Program is a teaching resource designed by teachers to provide students with opportunities to explore the important concepts of: Courage, Commitment, Sacrifice, Patriotism, Integrity, and Citizenship.

  • 11:15 am-  Panel Ends
  • 11:30 am- Book Signing begins
  • 12:00 am- Lunch (provided by schools)
